"Sin Aesthetic" began as an instrumental trance track titled "Synaesthetic", which was taken from the concept of synaesthesia, where senses seem to be confused - colors have sounds, a song smells rotten, etc. The track was lost in a computer crash, but the MP3 format survived. Since I had not had a chance to master it, I set out to recreate the track and realized along the way that sin has an aesthetic, a look, a style. Sin never shows up in a person's life looking terrible. Sin shows up like the model on the cover of a magazine. Titillating and desirable.

The passage - from Paul's letter to Timothy - about how people would behave in the end times was the perfect - in my mind, anyway - description of what sin looks like from the Christian perspective: greedy, self-absorbed, rebellious, etc. Not that the world we live in condemns such behavior, but that the world encourages it. Greed is called ambition. Self-absorption is called self-esteem. Rebellion against parental authority is called Oppositional Defiant Disorder. Our world, particularly in America, has repackaged sin to look acceptable and sometimes even attractive.
