Definition
05:07
|
|||
staring into the pane of glass over silver
a fragmented image stares right back at me
the myriad eyes inside are searching - reaching with the hands of perception
towards a face that they all share
this fractured image is the only one that's true
to the essence of the thing that it mirrors
the many faces of a man all seeking their definition
in the face of just One Man
we look around for definition
we raise our eyes to search for answers from on high
we all are seeking definition
we can only find it in the Man, Jesus Christ
our broken hearts are looking for a love that's true
disappointment mounting ever higher
so disillusioned and despondent that we cannot find
a way to define ourselves

Burning Bridges
04:57
|
|||
it’s time to burn a bridge or two, there’s no return
relinquish all the flames consume and watch it burn
the country I have left behind is not my home
what I incinerate is all I called my own
and if I immolate this flesh, nothing is lost
before the tinder met the spark, I count the cost
burning bridges to the life that I once lived
leaving behind the things that You forgive
cutting off all my recourse to all but You
no other option but to see this journey through
now break the ties that bind to all my sinful past
look forward to foundations and love that will last
these bridges serve to the chasms that divide
and work a miracle: the change You’ve wrought inside
once bridges have been crossed and they their purpose served
so that I don’t turn back, please let my bridges burn

Hidden Sight
05:15
|
|||
I tried and I failed to hide my sin from You
no matter what I tried, somehow You always knew
made my bed in the grave, still You saw the truth
I sank down to the depths, but there You found me, too
one more day, one more night denying what I’ve done
no height that I can reach can ever hide me from
the truth I evade of God’s salvation come
all I want, all I need is only in the Son
where can I go? I cannot hide
all of my secret sins are hid in sight
when to You, my God, the dark is light
and the day is the same as night
though I rise to the skies, ascend to Heaven’s peak
still I find You there with Your eyes on me
I fly on wings of dawn – only You make me free
my search only reveals that it’s You I seek

Faster
03:28
|
|||
I need to be better than the best
I need to be faster than the rest
no turning back once I begin
have to run the race as if to win
faster than the rest
I need to train that I win this fight
I need to stand if I'm to last the night
with the rising of the Son
my victory assured, my conquest won
I will win this fight

Silent Betrayal
04:24
|
|||
you did not stop to listen
and you would not pause to see
the heart of your betrayal
was withholding Christ from me
now it’s over. now it’s done.
I did not reconcile my heart with the One
now it’s over. now it’s done.
I did not reconcile my heart with the Son of God
Christ died that I might live
and you never said a word
others did, whom I ignored,
but your voice I might have heard
in the last, the final judgment;
tell me who I’m to blame
for consigning me to torment
and damning me to pain

Souls in Trust
04:42
|
|||
so much for peace, so much for war
so much for love, so much for hate
we cannot mend what we’ve destroyed
our weak attempts have come too late
so much for right, so much for wrong
so much for hope and blank despair
we don’t expect the end to come
we’re further gone than we’re aware
we destroy what God has made
and, in our science, think we’re safe
a reckoning is on its way;
judgment we do not anticipate
so much mistrust, so much for faith
so much for good, so much for ill
we have rejected what we need
our deepest longing: unfulfilled
so much for valor when cowards reign
so much for heroes, called villains now
our idols lack the power to save
our backwards world is falling down
in the end, what will remain
when all our pomp has turned to dust?
when will we place our faith in God
and to Jesus’ care our souls entrust?

Promise to the Victor
06:15
|
|||
if you can understand, then listen
if your heart comprehends, God speaks
promises are made to they who hold to faith
who live in victory
there is a life that is eternal
existence unafraid of death
comfort for the tired and weary
a place where we can finally rest
the promise of a name not plagued with shame
with future stretching on ahead
a forever spent beside the God we love
and we never leave again
by the blood of the Lamb
in the strength of I AM
through the faith that He gives
in this victory we live
we can belong to something better than ourselves
God’s name inscribed upon each one
claimed by the very voice of Jesus Christ
and referred to as God’s son

you think that you’re a drone with nothing special to give
and you move without a purpose through the life that you live
broken people, empty places fill your days and your nights
while nothing that you’ve found can fill the vacuum inside
you’ve wandered through the darkness seeking you-don’t-know-what
depression keeps on mounting, not one thing makes the cut
the drum-beat called out to you as you walked by the door
moving lights have drawn you in, so now you stand on the floor. now
DANCE, DRONE all the drones dance
DANCE, DRONE ignore their emptiness
DANCE, DRONE to the beat of the drum
DANCE, DRONE just get lost in the song
DANCE, DRONE forget what you feel
DANCE, DRONE in time it will heal
DANCE, DRONE if you want to belong, then
DANCE, DRONE
you’re moving to the music, still your soul’s unfulfilled
and the thought that something’s missing just continues to build
an automaton is all you ever thought you could be
but something deep within you cries out to be free
Christ came to cleanse your sin and give you purpose in life
and to fill the vacuum that you have discovered inside
His Spirit living in you cause you to be reborn
gives you freedom so you don’t need to conform
